Eunice G. Hudson

Eunice Grace Neudecker Hudson was born on February 23, 1925, in Edwardsville, IL, to Walter and Ethel (Butler) Neudecker, and died on April 9, 2026. At the age of 19, she married her high school sweetheart, Guy L. Hudson, on November 5, 1944, following his safe return after being shot down and captured during WWII. They spent three happy years at the University of Illinois, where Guy, or Lee as Eunice called him, earned a degree in accounting thanks to the GI Bill, and Eunice supported the family as an office manager in a furniture store. Following graduation, they moved to New Windsor, NY.

Eunice continued her career as an office manager until her first pregnancy. After the birth of her first daughter, two more would follow; motherhood became her top priority, and she excelled at it. In addition, she was the bookkeeper for Lee’s real estate and insurance business and, after her girls were grown, a much-loved aide in developmental kindergarten programs.

Along with caring for her girls, she was devoted to caring for others. She was a woman of faith, and her life of service included volunteering with the Brownies, Girl Scouts, PTA, Sunday school, church choirs, the Red Cross, Manatee Council on Aging, teaching Cambodians to read, Manatee Community Blood Center, Doctors’ Hospital, knitting chemo caps, and leading a Prayer and Share group.

A woman of many talents, Eunice never met a craft she didn’t want to try, and she succeeded in all of them. She was an accomplished baker and decorated birthday and wedding cakes for her family. Her family’s walls hold exquisite watercolors that she created specifically for them, reflecting moments in their lives. And she still found time for knitting, reading, beading, stamping, sewing, and later in life making her family cards for birthdays and holidays that they will always treasure.

Known for her warm, ever-present smile, Eunice didn’t like her name until her mother told her she had picked it because it meant “happiness”. Happiness is what Eunice spread wherever she went, to family, friends, and strangers. Her children, Laura L. Yedvobnick (Barry Yedvobnick), Holly L. Niner (Keith Niner), and Rashelle R. Crofut (Scott Crofut); her grandchildren, Rebecca Yedvobnick (Danny O’Oconnor), Evan Niner (Jackie Niner), Andrew Yedvobnick (Leslie Yedvobnick), Brenton Crofut (Haley Crofut), Beth Woodington (David Woodington), and Bradley Crofut (Krystle Crofut); and her great-grandchildren, Mia Yedvobnick, Emma Yedvobnick, Noah Niner, Brody Crofut, Hannah Niner, Quentin Woodington, and Ivy Crofut, will greatly miss her.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Guy L. Hudson, her parents, Walter and Ethel Neudecker, and her brother, Harlowe Neudecker.

The family will be holding a private memorial at a later time. They ask you to remember Eunice with a smile and honor her by living your best life and stepping in when you see others in need.
