Tidewell receives $30,000 grant from Truist Foundation to support staff amid COVID-19 pandemic

Tidewell Hospice has received a $30,000 grant from the Truist Foundation. The grant comes from the Truist Charitable Fund and will support Tidewell’s COVID-19 response.

The grant is to fund additional flex staffing, childcare for front-line workers and medical supplies, particularly personal protective equipment (PPE).

Grant funds provide support for additional staffing so Tidewell can continue to provide world-class hospice care as well as additional supportive care, including a Community Hope Line. Grief counselors, social workers and chaplains are staffing a 24/7 community-wide phone line (941-556-HOPE) and email address (communityhope@tidewell.org) for people who need counseling, spiritual care and social service assistance.

“The colleagues at Tidewell are beyond dedicated to serving the community through the many challenges of COVID-19,” said Tidewell President and CEO Jonathan Fleece. “This generous $30,000 gift from the Truist Foundation will help equip our front-line health care workers with the PPE they need to more safely serve Tidewell’s patients.” “We applaud your efforts to address the needs in your community during this critical time and we hope this grant will help provide comfort and relief,” said Andrea Nicole Royster, Director of Grants Management for the Truist Foundation. “Truly, we are better together and wish you well in your endeavors.”
