A Message From The Tidewell Foundation’s President – Thank You

 

Greetings and welcome to one long hot, rainy summer. With the storm of COVID’s growth becoming more rampant every day, it is easy to become fixated on the stressors surrounding us. It has been an incredibly hard year for so many people in our community in so many ways. We get it. We feel it too.

And yet, we are drawn to the light of what comes after the storm.

After nearly every storm emerges a rainbow, reflecting lighter air and energy that is so welcome and needed. To clear the air. To clear our minds, bodies, and spirits.

At Tidewell, what we call our “Tidewellian” values resonate loudly for us each day. Caring. Listening. Respect. Honesty. Servant Leadership. The ability to pause, reflect, feel real compassion, work through our fear, and show up as the best version of our authentic selves and care for others. Whether patients can pay or not, we provide world-class care for tens of thousands of patients and families every day of every year. We take care of our community.

That is what I, and my fellow colleagues who work for the Tidewell Foundation, Tidewell Hospice, our home health agencies Approved and Avidity, our physician services of Connexis, and our peer colleagues at our new parent company—Empath Health—do every day.

Even when caring for their own ill family members, scared for their own health, and fearful of the risk they bring home to their families, our colleagues show up to care for patients every day. They give their best with an open, compassionate heart and a caring smile, dedicated to uplifting the community despite the tempest around them.

At the Tidewell Foundation, we show up every day, so grateful for our brave colleague caregivers, and for you: our donors, grantors, and supporters. Your belief in our mission, your compassion in supporting the best care to others, and your commitment in our vision to serve everyone in need—it speaks volumes.

Today, we salute you. We are truly grateful for your incredibly generous support. For us, the way we feel about our donors is much like the way our patients and their families feel about their “angels on earth” who provide them with world-class care. Thank you to our “angels on earth”—our donors—for the light you show us.
