Donations needed following Hurricane Ian
Tidewell Foundation is seeking support for our not-for-profit Tidewell Hospice and Empath Health affiliates in service to our region following Hurricane Ian. Our compassionate and caring Tidewell Hospice, Empath Home Health and other Empath Health colleagues have been affected by damage to their vehicles and homes, even while helping vulnerable patients meet their urgent healthcare needs. Tidewell and Empath Health facilities in several counties in our service area have sustained system and facility damage, as well. The cost for response and temporary operations is expected to be significant.
Empath Health and Tidewell Hospice President Jonathan Fleece said, “for more than 40 years, our not-for-profit Tidewell Hospice has appreciated the generous support of our donor community as we walked beside our patients, families and communities. Our Tidewell Hospice and Empath Home Health colleagues in DeSoto, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Collier, Lee, Glades and other counties were deeply impacted. We hope donors who can help us post-Hurricane Ian will do so. This will be a long recovery for our entire organization across Southwest Florida. We remain committed to providing world-class, full-life care to all, even if that means doing so from temporary locations, and as we support our colleagues to stabilize after their own impact.”
Tidewell Foundation President Debbie Mason added, “we are deeply grateful for the appreciation and affinity so many of our patient families’ and donors in this time of significant need. Our Treasures Resale Stores are not safe to reopen yet, but please watch for updated messages. We would appreciate the donation of clean, undamaged apparel, furnishings, housewares, etc. once our stores are open.”
