Legacy planning seminar focuses on LGBTQ concerns
Truist Bank, Equality Florida Suncoast Chapter and Tidewell Foundation are coming together to help empower LGBTQ participants make estate planning decisions that are best for them. The program is 5 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Sarasota Yacht Club.
The seminar grew out of documented concern that many LGBTQ individuals avoid or delay end-of-life planning decisions because preferences about how their estate should be managed or how their dying wishes should be met may be complicated by uncertainty about personal, family or even legal issues.
The program will address concerns and misperceptions around both long-term estate planning as well as purposeful end-of-life decisions that affect individuals and families. Participants will leave with tools and information to help guide current and future decision-making.
The seminar will open with a cocktail reception, followed by a panel discussion and question-and-answer session. It free to attend, but participants must register by January 15, 2023.
“Participants will find the program to be upbeat and empowering,” said Delesa Morris, M.S., CFRE, Interim President, Tidewell Foundation, which is host to the event. “These decisions are among the most important people can make and we believe people should make decisions that are best for them.”
