Frank W. Zimmer
Frank William Zimmer, a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the age of 98.
Born to Anne Marie and William Peter Zimmer on February 7, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, Frank lived a full life on Long Island, New York with his family, and enjoyed his retirement in Venice, Florida. He loved the beach and boating and enjoyed water and snow skiing.
Frank was a World War II Army Veteran. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the American Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a Pace University graduate and enjoyed a career in advertising sales. Frank was an American Legion member, a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of Venice Presbyterian Church.
Frank was an avid golfer and was a member of Pelican Pointe Men’s Golf Association, the Walter Hagen Hole in One Club, and enjoyed playing golf until the age of 92. Frank was known for his quick wit and warm heart and will be dearly missed. Frank leaves behind a legacy of kindness and laughter.
Frank is survived by his cherished wife Iris of sixty years, his loving children, Dawn Boling (Steve) and Craig Zimmer, and his adored grandchildren, Will Zimmer, Wes Boling, and Brooke Boling. He was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild to Will and Summer Zimmer.
A Military Service in honor of Frank will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 2:30pm, where he will be remembered with gratitude and respect. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
