Eileen F. Lacijan
Eileen F. Lacijan, 98, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away peacefully at her home at Southport Square on Nov 1, 2023 after a long and full life. Eileen was born on June 12, 1925 to Lawrence C. and Louise P. (Frees) Corvi. She was the youngest of four daughters (Evelyn, Louise, and Mildred) who were well-known in Woodhaven, Queens as the “Corvi Girls.” All four attended St. Thomas the Apostle Elementary School in Woodhaven and Our Lady of Wisdom Academy High School in Ozone Park.
Eileen was preceded in death by the love of her life, Charlie, to whom she was married for 65 years. Together they had five children, but sadly two of the five, Christine and Kenneth, died in early childhood, a tragedy that caused her much sorrow but made her determined to love her other children all the more deeply. She is survived by sons Charles (Eileen) Lacijan of Arnold, Maryland; Lawrence (Kathy) Lacijan of Palatine, Illinois, and daughter Louise Giarraputo of Corning, New York. In addition, she is survived by six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Eileen and Charlie raised their family in Elmont, Long Island, where they were faithful parishioners at St. Boniface parish. Eileen was a loving wife and mother who devoted herself to her family, and was well-loved by all who knew her. She was a very talented seamstress who delighted in trying new patterns. She became a sales associate at JCPenney’s in Valley Stream, where she enjoyed a successful career. After she and Charlie became “empty nesters”, they moved to Latham, NY, and, in retirement, lived in both Kent Island, MD, and later Punta Gorda, Florida. She was such a pleasant person, she easily made new friends and quickly became well-loved everywhere they settled. She and Charlie also enjoyed traveling around the country and visiting new places.
A private memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tidewell Foundation.
