Marlene Swartz Silver

Ada Marlene Silver (née Swartz) passed away on September 8, 2024, in Bradenton, FL, at the age of 85. Born on August 29, 1939, in Telford, PA, Marlene lived a fulfilling life marked by her dedication to her family and community.

Marlene graduated from Manatee High School and continued her education at Manatee Junior College, both in Bradenton, FL. She dedicated almost 40 years of her career as a Computer Analyst at the same institution, contributing significantly to its growth and development.

Marlene was a compassionate soul, always ready to lend a helping hand. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who cherished her family deeply. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, cooking, baking, solving puzzles, and reading, which brought much joy not only to her but also to those around her.

She is survived by her sister, Bobbi Jo (Gene) Shenberg; sister-in-law, Letitia George; children, Scott (Wendy) Silver, Patti (Lance) Couture, and Beckee (Greg) Wells; and grandchildren, Nick (Alexis) Wells, Haley (Luca) Hart, and Matthew Couture. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John F. “Buddy” Silver; her father, William P. “Pax” Swartz; and her mother, Ada Swartz.

Funeral services will be held at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton, FL. Visitation is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, September 13, 2024, followed by services at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg or Tidewell Hospice in Lakewood Ranch, honoring Marlene’s spirit of generosity.
