Aurela Guerrette Veilleux

Aurela Guerrette Veilleux, originally of Lewiston, ME, died on January 19 in Sarasota, FL, at 96 years old.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane V. Blanchard and her husband Dennis, and Doris Rosa; three grandchildren: Sal Morabito of Rocky Hill, CT, Fuzz Nola Marie Blanchard of Los Angeles, CA, and Aine Quimby of Newburyport, MA. There are also three great-grandchildren: Rosey, Declan, and Torin Quimby.

Aurela and her predeceased husband, Roger Veilleux, owned an awning company in Newington, CT. Upon retirement, they returned to Lewiston, ME, until moving to Mobile Estates (ME) in Sarasota, FL. A long-time ME community member, Aurela is known for her kindness, wit, and quick smile as she bicycled daily in the “park” while wearing the infamous straw hat.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 30, from 2-4 pm at Toale Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory, 40 N. Orange Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34236.

There will be a service for her at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 2506 Gulf Gate Dr, Sarasota, FL 34231, on Wednesday, January 31, at 10:30 am.

A graveside service will follow at 1 pm at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road, Sarasota, Florida.
