Music Therapy

In Tidewell’s Music Therapy program, our therapists expertly harness the healing power of music to alleviate patients’ stress and pain.

Music lifts mind, body, and spirit.

Research shows that music therapy is a powerful complement to conventional medical treatment. It is remarkably effective in alleviating pain and stress — on par with drugs, but without harmful side effects or dependencies.

And of course, music can give patients spiritual and emotional comfort that medicine can’t supply. Music therapy helped Gloria Grillo and her husband, Bill, reconnect with treasured memories. Their love story spans the better part of a century: through World War II, building a life and a family together, and now sharing their final chapter at Tidewell Hospice.

With the help of a Tidewell Music Therapist, Gloria captured their remarkable story in song — a powerful way for them to re-experience a lifetime of love together.

Thanks to our wonderful donors, we provide music therapy to hundreds of patients for free. Still, we get far more requests than we can fulfill, and the demand grows every year. Your continued support can help us meet this growing need.
