The Tidewell Honors Veterans Program has served more than 2,000 veterans in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties, providing specialized hospice care that recognizes the unique challenges facing many military families.

In celebration of William “Bill” Fitzpatrick’s 91st birthday, his Tidewell care team wanted to go beyond a cake and candles. Honoring his passion for the armed forces, they arranged a Tidewell Honors Veterans pinning ceremony for the Navy veteran.

Bill’s wife, Joan, describes the touching moment when he rose from his wheelchair to return the salute. “I can’t explain how happy and touched we were.”
