What is the Giving Challenge?
The Giving Challenge is a 24-hour online giving event hosted by the Community Foundation of Sarasota that connects local nonprofits with passionate donors (that’s you!).
In 2020, donors to Tidewell during The Giving Challenge blew us away, allowing us to expand our telehealth services, giving patients a window to the world with virtual reality headsets and iPads.
As you plan your giving for the 2022 Giving Challenge, we hope you’ll include Tidewell and help us expand our complementary services including music, massage, and pet therapies.
How it works:
- Visit www.givingchallenge.org from noon on April 26 through noon April 27.
- Click “Search Participating Organizations” and type in Tidewell Foundation.
- Make a gift of $25 – $100 and your gift will be generously matched by The Patterson Foundation!

The Importance of Complementary Services
What are Complementary Services?
The first opening notes of your favorite song. The first concert you attended. The lullabies you sang to your children over and over. Music has the power to transport us to a favorite moment, comfort us, raise our spirits, and bring healing.
In Tidewell’s Music Therapy program, our therapists expertly harness the healing power of music to alleviate patients’ stress and pain, reconnect patients with treasured memories, and provide families with a lasting memory of their loved ones.
Complementary services such as music therapy, massage therapy, Reiki, expressive art services, and pet therapy not only helps to relieve stress and pain, but creates joy and peace in a patient’s final days.
What Will Your Gift Do?
Your gift will allow Tidewell to further expand these vital services to all patients in our four-county service area, by hiring additional therapists to meet our growing needs, providing materials, technology, and supplies for things like expressive arts projects or heartbeat stethoscope recordings, as we receive more requests each day for these services.
Last year, thanks to generous donors to the Tidewell Foundation, nearly 1400 patients received complimentary services free of charge.
