Broadway Star Lorna Luft headlines at Tidewell Foundation Signature Luncheon
Lorna Luft, Broadway star and daughter of the beloved legendary star July Garland, will be the keynote speaker at Tidewell Foundation’s 121h Annual Signature Luncheon, scheduled for February 5, 2021. Purchase your virtual experience tickets here!
Making her show business debut at 11 years of age, Lorna has been a stage, film and Emmy-winning television actress and continues to perform in both the U.S. and the U.K. She is an author of two books – “Me and My Shadows: A Family Memoir” and recently “A Star is Born: Judy Garland and the Film that Got Away”. She shares stories about her mother, the famous movie along with her final years and the compassion, love and ultimate grief at her untimely death.
After battling breast cancer four times and surviving brain cancer surgery, Lorna has been a dedicated philanthropist fighting for a breast cancer cure and the importance of comprehensive healthcare. She is a tireless campaigner for children’s healthcare and generously supports charities that provide HIVAIDS services.
Lorna speaks candidly about the challenges of mental illness and the impact on women and their children and the courage it takes to seek healing. As a caregiver to her mother as well as her dearest friend, who spent her final two weeks of her life in hospice and passed away last year, Lorna has been touched by the fragility and vulnerability of life.
The 12th Annual Signature Luncheon is Tidewell’s signature fundraising event to help fund the services Tidewell provides to more than 10,000 patients annually, regardless of their ability to pay. The luncheon gets underway at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021, at The Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota.
