Thanksgiving Meal Drive delivered special day to people in need

On Wednesday, Nov. 23, volunteers fanned out across Tidewell’s four-county service area to deliver individual “heat-and-serve” Thanksgiving meals to families who likely would have done without this year.

Thanks to the generous support of donors to Tidewell Foundation and those who purchased meals through our catering partners, 510 meals were delivered to patients and families in the care of Tidewell Hospice or Empath Home Health, in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

“In this season of gratitude, we thank everyone who made this year’s Thanksgiving Meal Drive a huge success,” said Jonathan Fleece, President and CEO of Tidewell Hospice and President of Empath Health. “Today would not have been possible without the full support of donors, volunteers, colleagues and our catering partners.”

Delesa Morris, Tidewell Foundation Senior Vice President, said “while the Foundation exists to provide financial support to Tidewell Hospice, we cannot pass up the opportunity to help make lives brighter for those who need it – at a time of year that is about caring, sharing and gratitude. We appreciate everyone who came together to make it happen.”

The meal drive is supported annually by Morton’s Gourmet Market, GROVE and Pier 22.
