Joel Scott Thornton
Joel Scott Thornton, aged 55, passed away on November 30, 2024, in Bradenton, FL. Joel passed peacefully with family at Tidewell Hospice after a long, hard fight following a spinal injury from a motorcycle accident in 2016. Born on December 4, 1968, Joel was known for his vibrant smile and deep love for his family and the outdoors. He dedicated many years of his career to the California Conservation Corps and the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, working with at-risk youth. Joel also worked at Teltronics and Dentsply, where he was respected for his professionalism and commitment.
Beyond his professional life, Joel was a loving father and an avid enthusiast of baseball, technology, and motorcycles. Joel is survived by his son, Nathan Chase Thornton; his father, Patrick Thornton; and his sister, Rebecca Sloan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Thornton.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tidewell Hospice in his name.
