Katherine Cergizan

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Katherine Sikich Cergizan of Bradenton, FL. She died at the age of 91, on March 1, 2024.

Kate passed away surrounded by her loved ones after a very short illness. Kate was predeceased in death by her first husband, Thomas Buxton of Hammond, IN, whom she married in 1951. He passed away in 1979. She was then fortunate enough to marry in 1981 to Julius “Lindy” Cergizan of Highland, IN. Lindy passed away in 1999. She also lost her parents, Mary and Albert Sikich, and her brother Al Sikich. She is survived by two daughters, Gail Graham (Fred) of Punta Gorda, FL; Janet Hall (Ray) of Bradenton, FL; two granddaughters, Cynthia Cease (Michael) of Elk Grove Village, IL, and Melissa Graham (Carlos Roman) of San Diego, CA. She has two great-grandchildren, Ayden Cease, age 11, and Ava Roman, age 6. Kate has a sister, Delores Carmon of Hammond, IN, and three nieces.

Kate was born in East Chicago, IN and spent her early years in Hammond, IN. She then lived several years in Highland, IN and Klinger Lake, Sturgis, MI. She wintered in Bradenton, FL from 1981 to 2005 at which time she made it her permanent home.

She enjoyed activities such as Bingo and lunch with many friends. She lived an independent, active life right up to the end, driving and shopping. She took great pride and enjoyment in her family. She will be sorely missed by many who love her.

Services will be held at Brown and Sons Funeral Home at 604 43rd Street W. in Bradenton, FL, on Saturday, March 9 at 4:00 pm with a visitation starting at 2:00 PM. The family wishes to thank Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton for her excellent care and would request any donations be made in her name in lieu of flowers.
