
Miriam ‘Mickie’ Kaye
Miriam “Mickie” Kaye, 89, of Sarasota, FL passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at Tidewell Hospice in Lakewood Ranch.
Born on April 7, 1936, Mickie was a proud 1957 graduate of Brandeis University. Throughout her life, she remained intellectually curious and deeply engaged with the world around her. She found joy in reading and was known for her thoughtful knitting projects gifted to friends and family. Her love of writing and editing was evident in the many bulletins she prepared for various organizations over the years.
Married in December of 1956, Mickie shared a rich life with her beloved husband, Jerry Kaye, with whom she traveled extensively. Together, they explored the world and built a life filled with shared experiences and cherished memories.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Jonathan L. Kaye (Jennifer) of Sarasota, FL; daughter Julianne Oberdorff (Troy) of Rockingham, VA; grandchildren Jordann Oberdorff, Devin Oberdorff (Hunter), Cole Oberdorff (Mary) and Ian Kaye; great-grandchildren Lincoln, Taron, Hayden, Jack and Violet; her sister Judith Stanton of New York.
Mickie was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Kaye; her mother Dutchy Kliegman; and her father Jacob N. Kliegman.
She spent her later years at the Aviva retirement community and received compassionate care from Empath Tidewell Hospice. A member of Temple Sinai in Sarasota, Mickie remained connected to her faith and community throughout her life.
At Mickie’s request, there will be no memorial service, however, if anyone wishes, donations may be made to Empath Tidewell Hospice Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
