Patricia Mae Sindlinger

Patricia Mae (Feutz) Sindlinger, 88, passed peacefully on February 15, 2024. She was born April 10, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio. Pat lived in both Dover and Wooster, Ohio, and in Sarasota and Venice, Florida.

Pat was a 1953 graduate of Dover High School and later attended Kent State University. She married Robert Henry (Hank) Sindlinger in 1954.

Pat was always saying “Bloom where you’re planted” and she always left her mark among friends and colleagues, first working at WJER radio in Dover, Ohio, then developing the libraries and media centers for the Dover Public Schools (1964-1978). She continued her library work at Ohio State University’s Agricultural Technical Institute (1978-1984) and Agricultural Experimental Station (1984-1988), both in Wooster, Ohio.

As an avid gardener, Pat generously gave her landscape design expertise to friends and private homes during her retirement years in Wooster and again after moving to Sarasota, Florida. She was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and the Unitarian Universalist church gardens. Pat was well known as a passionate knitter, always carrying a bag with her current knitting project and always happy to give impromptu lessons to anyone she met. Her knitting benefited our troops abroad through Grassroots for the Troops and the global organization Knit for Kids.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Susan Braley Sindlinger; her brothers, John and Bob Feutz; her sister, Mary Lee Blickensderfer; and three Grandcats. She was preceded by her sister, Nellie and her husband, Hank Sindlinger.

In lieu of Flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Pat Sindlinger’s memory to Tidewell Foundation, 3550 S. Tamiami Tr., Sarasota, FL 34239.

An interment service in the Memorial Garden at the Sarasota Unitarian Universalist church is planned for 10 am on Friday, April 12, 2024.
