Ray Hall
Ray Hall, our beloved husband and father passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, at Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton, Florida. Ray was born and raised in Chicago Heights, IL. He graduated in 1957 from Bloom High School. He then served his country in the armed services.
He spent his early career employed by E.J. Korvette and then Venture stores where he managed several stores in the IN, IL, and TX areas. He married Barbara Howell in 1960 and had two children, Todd and Kelly. In 1980, he met his second wife-to-be Janet Buxton from Highland, IN. They spent the next 30 years together living in IL and TX until retiring to Bradenton FL. They had a long and active life together until Parkinson’s and dementia slowed him down.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Raymond Hall, and his brother, Jack Hall. He is survived by his son, Todd (Tracey) Hall of Frankfort, IL; daughter, Kelly (Chad) Gebhardt of Downers Grove, IL; stepdaughter, Cynthia (Michael) Cease of Elk Grove Village, IL and two grandsons, Max Gebhardt age 14 and Ayden Cease age 12 and several nieces and nephews.
Ray had many interests in his lifetime. He loved his work and was happiest when busy fixing something. He held his friendships close at heart as well as his dogs, Bailey and Elvis. Despite enjoying being busy, Ray relished his leisure time whether it was relaxing with a beer or playing a round of golf, his greatest passion. And if it wasn’t golf, he enjoyed spending time at the beach or in the comfort of his condo in Bradenton. Of course, while soft-spoken, he often surprised many with his dry wit and sense of humor.
A Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM, Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209, with service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in his name to Tidewell Hospice.
