After semi- retiring from the West Virginia grocery business and moving to Florida in the late 1960s, Ron became a full-time Northwest Bradenton (Warners Bayou) resident, and was a member of The Church at Bradenton.

He was also an avid saltwater fisherman, and an accomplished gardener. He kept very active, always maintaining an immaculate lawn and a big, beautiful vegetable garden from which he would generously share much of the homegrown produce with family, friends, and neighbors.

Ron cherished all his family, and always looked forward to their visits and frequent get-togethers. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren mutually adored him and their time together. He relished his home life, enjoying playing card games and watching sports on television, especially boxing and any of the Tampa Bay (Bucs and Rays) games.
