Annual Chad Day Fishing Tournament to Benefit Tidewell

SARASOTA, Fla. – The 5th Annual Chad Day Memorial Fishing Tournament will be held Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23, 2023. As part of tournament festivities at Tarpon Bay Grill & Tiki Bar, there will be silent auctions and raffles to help support Tidewell Foundation that are open to the public.

The tournament is held in honor of Chad Day, a Bradenton resident who died at age 24 while being cared for by Tidewell Hospice in 2015. Chad’s favorite thing to do was fish. Last year the tournament raised $15,952 for Tidewell Foundation, helping to support the care, comfort, and compassion Tidewell Hospice provides for 10,000 patients and families each year.

“Organizing an event like this takes dedicated hard work,” said Delesa Morris, Interim President of Tidewell Foundation. “We are grateful to Joann Day and her husband Alan Dormeyer for their generous support of the Foundation, and of course we appreciate everyone who participates in this fabulous event.”

The captain’s meeting is Saturday, April 22, at 3 p.m. Tournament participants may begin fishing immediately after the captain’s meeting and must have all pictures submitted by 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2023. The tournament will pay out a total of $6,000 in prize money. In each species, first place will claim $1,000, second $700 and third $300. This year’s tournament is sponsored by Tarpon Bay Grill & Tiki Bar.

On Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 23 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., there will be several silent auctions and numerous very generous raffle baskets, as well as a 50/50; 100 percent of proceeds go to Tidewell. These events are open to everyone, and raffle tickets can be purchased at the restaurant, 7150 Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL, 34243.
