Tidewell Foundation, Dignity Memorial Combine to Collect Record Amount During Fourth Annual Linens and Love Drive
Tidewell Foundation’s fourth annual Linens and Love drive was a massive success, setting records for the collection of new sheets, towels and other linens for Tidewell Hospice and Empath Health patients in need.
In March, Tidewell Foundation, in partnership with Dignity Memorial, collected more than 1,400 individual linen items and another $10,000 in monetary donations. There were 38 drop-off locations across the Tidewell Hospice service area, and donors could purchase linens online.
The linens are often needed by patients who receive a hospital bed in their homes and need XL twin sheets. In other cases, families with limited resources need help providing their loved ones with clean, quality linens.
Delesa Morris, Tidewell Foundation President, says, “We are so appreciative of those who donated and for the Dignity Memorial partnership of the Linens and Love program. How wonderful to see such generosity from the community and corporate partners that will make a significant difference in helping those in need.”
Tidewell Hospice provides care for nearly 10,000 patients throughout its four-county service area of Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties. The Tidewell Foundation provides perpetual support for the world-class hospice and home health care of Tidewell Hospice, a member of Empath Health.
Dignity Memorial is a network of licensed funeral, cremation and cemetery providers. Tidewell and Dignity began partnering three years ago on the Linen and Love drive. This year, Dignity Memorial provided 26 drop-off locations.
“Our staff and our associates are really engaged with this program. It’s a great way for them to give back and get excited and talk to people coming in our doors about our philanthropy and what we try to do to give back to Tidewell,” Dignity Memorial General Manager Jason Toale said. “At the end of the day, we just want to help our community.”
