Tidewell receives CareerEdge grant to fund hospice certification for RNs, CNAs
Tidewell Hospice has received a grant from CareerEdge Funders Collaborative to allow the organization’s Registered Nurses and certified nursing assistants to obtain advanced hospice certification.
The $15,900 grant will fund training and examination fees for 22 RNs and 10 CNAs. Upon successfully passing the Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse examination (RNs) and Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing Assistant examination, colleagues are awarded the appropriate credentials, CHPN® and CHPNA®, for RNs and CNAs, respectively. This grant provides each participant with curriculum and study materials published by the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA), a one-year membership to HPNA, and the examination fee. Additionally, colleagues are provided flexible study groups facilitated by Hospice Education Specialists.
“On behalf of the Tidewell Foundation and Tidewell Hospice, we are grateful to have received this grant from CareerEdge,” said Tidewell Foundation President Debbie Mason. “Having a trained and strong specialty hospice workforce is so important to Tidewell’s ability to provide world-class care. This, as well as other support we’ve received, has helped us respond to the shortage of trained hospice nurses.”
Achievement of certification for healthcare providers is a tangible way to validate professional expertise, demonstrate a dedication to professional development and showcase a personal commitment to the provision of quality care at the end of life.
