Vivian Edith DeMaio

Vivian Edith DeMaio (Erickson), 84, of Longboat Key, FL, formerly of Oradell, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 5th, surrounded by her loving family.

Viv as she was known to her friends and family was born in Queens, NY, and raised in River Edge, NJ. She graduated from Hackensack High School where she created lifelong friendships. She worked as a secretary for many years and devoted her time to raising her three children: Suzanne, John, and Kathy. Viv married her late husband Frank DeMaio in 1983, with whom she spent 40 wonderful years together.

Viv enjoyed life’s simple pleasures such as hosting dinners, watching the Gulf sunsets, tending to her orchids, and working on jigsaw puzzles and sudoku. Viv was spirited and had an extraordinary way with others. She easily connected with people from the moment she met them and treasured relationships from all phases of her life’s journey.

Vivian was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank, her mother Ruth (Johnson), her father, Emil Erickson, her stepson, Dr. Paul De Maio, and her step-grandson, Christopher Howell.

Vivian is survived by her sister Lorraine; her children and stepchildren, daughter Suzanne (Ed) Golden; son John (Stephanie) Flannigan; and daughter Kathy (Chris) Drury; daughter Rosemary (Todd) Reichard; daughter Denise (Charles) Norkus; son Michael (Emelia) DeMaio; daughter Penny (Tim) Matte; son Neal (Leidy) DeMaio, daughter-in-law Gail Gilvey. and her grandchildren: Kaylie Flannigan (Ichiro Okamoto), Amelia and AJ Flannigan, Brendan, Kate, and Sean Golden, Mariah Campbell, Brielle (Brett) Rocklein, Malea Matte, Anthony (Joanna) Corigliano, Madison DeMaio, Francesca, and Michael Argente, and Angelina DeMaio.

A memorial will be held at Volk-Leber Funeral Home in Oradell, NJ on July 20th from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, followed by a burial for both Vivian and her late husband Frank at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
